On Thursday afternoon (16), an interagency operation involving the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army, Federal Police and Federal Revenue Service resulted in the discovery and dismantling of a clandestine warehouse in the Novo Horizonte slum in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).
The rapid coordinated response enabled the Public Security Agencies to reposition themselves effectively, culminating in the discovery of food smuggled from Argentina. According to the teams, the cargo, which was taken to the Federal Revenue Service, included picanha, olive oil, shrimp, wines, alfajores, olives, among other items.
For the Captain of the Ports of the Paraná River, Frigate Captain Edésio Raimundo de Assis Junior, the collaboration between these institutions demonstrates the importance of integration in the fight against cross-border crime. “This successful operation reinforces the ongoing commitment of the institutions, consolidating the importance of coordination between the Security Agencies in order to weaken organized crime, day after day,” he said.
Other actions in Paraná
On Monday (13), Navy teams arrested a suspect in a boat, who refused to be inspected and fled, disposing of the cargo he was carrying, on the Paraná River.
On the 11th, the Brazilian Navy supported a coordinated action that resulted in the seizure of 175 boxes of cigarettes smuggled from Paraguay in Itaipu Lake, near the town of São Miguel do Iguaçu (PR).
