IMBEL delivers Genesis Artillery Fire Coordination System to the Brazilian ArmyIMBEL delivers Genesis Artillery Fire Coordination System to the Brazilian Army

Brasília (DF) – On June 7, during the commemorations of Artillery Day held by the Army Artillery Command in Formosa (GO), the Genesis System was symbolically delivered to the Brazilian Army. This system is a computerized system of direction and coordination of fireworks at the Brigade level, developed and produced by IMBEL.

The Genesis System, called Digitalized System of Campaign Artillery (SISDAC) by the Brazilian Army, represents a technological leap forward for the Land Force, as it provides more efficiency in the search for targets and guarantees agility and precision in the unleashing of fire, placing the Brazilian Artillery on the same level as similar artillery systems from countries that own this technology.

The events took place at Fort Santa Barbara, in Formosa (GO), headquarters of the Army Artillery Command, and included real shooting with the use of SISDAC. The 3rd Self-Propelled Field Artillery Group (3°GAC Ap), Mallet Regiment, based in Santa Maria (RS), deployed two M109A5+BR guns, three M113 armored personnel carriers, and one M577 A2 Command Post vehicle.

The real shooting demonstration using SISDAC was named “Operation Paranhos”, in honor of the creator and one of the main figures responsible for the success of the Genesis Project, Colonel Claudio Nossar Paranhos Junior, who passed away in January 2021. For nearly twenty years, Colonel Paranhos served in IMBEL’s Communications and Electronics Material Factory (FMCE), taking over as head of the factory from 2011 to 2016.

The development of the Genesis System counted on the effective participation of the Divisionary Artillery of the 1st Army Division (AD/1), the Artillery Course of the Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras (AMAN), the 3rd Self-Propelled Campaign Artillery Group, and the 5th Self-Propelled Campaign Artillery Group, the last two based in Santa Maria (RS) and Curitiba (PR), respectively, whose technical and operational suggestions resulting from the use of the equipment in their exercises and simulations allowed the incorporation of important improvements to the System.
