The Ministry of Defense of Greece announced last Wednesday (25) a meeting with a representative of Embraer to request information about the C-390 Millennium military cargo aircraft, produced by the Brazilian company.
The European country currently has a fleet of nine Lockheed C-130s, in B and H versions, and is looking for a military cargo aircraft to replace the old turboprops, which have been modernized but are now at the end of their service life.
Equipped with two IAE V2500-E5 turbofan engines with 31,330 lb-ft of thrust each, the C-390 Millenium is capable of flying at Mach 0.80 and carrying up to 26 tons of cargo. In addition to the Brazilian Air Force, the C-390 Millennium has already been ordered by three European countries: Portugal (five units), the Netherlands (five units) and Hungary (two units).
