In the context of Operation Agate Joint Operation South, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) identified, around 8:00 a.m. (Brasília time) on Tuesday (04/07), in the western region of the state of Paraná, a small aircraft, model PA-28, that entered Brazilian airspace without authorization and without a flight plan. The FAB’s A-29 Super Tucano air defense aircraft and E-99 radar aircraft were used to monitor the aircraft.

The air defense pilots followed the protocol of the Brazilian airspace policing measures. At this point, the aircraft was classified as suspect, as provided in Decree 5.144, of July 16, 2004.

Afterwards, the pilot of the suspect aircraft landed on an airstrip in the city of Tuneiras do Oeste (PR). Soon after, the plane was set on fire by the pilot himself, who fled the scene before police agents arrived. The entire operation was carried out in coordination with the Federal Police, with support from the Paraná Military Police.
