The Brazilian Air Force (FAB), through the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA), has updated ICA 100-40, the document that regulates drone flights in the country. The regulatory change is effective as of this Monday (03/07), facilitating requests for flights and reducing the response time for users.

The new legislation also makes the access of unmanned aircraft to regions near airports more flexible, while maintaining operational safety levels, and creates new flight profiles, such as aerial agricultural operations, to meet the demands of the market and of pilots.

“Requests for drone flights grow 40% per year in Brazil. DECEA comes out ahead, being one of the first countries in the world to adapt legislation to the current needs of the sector and improving its systems and services,” says the Director General of DECEA, Air Lieutenant Brigadier Alcides Teixeira Barbacovi.

DECEA has in its website the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Portal, which brings together the legislation and information necessary for UAS pilots and operators to perform safe operations in accordance with the regulatory framework in force, as well as providing the user with a channel for requesting access to Brazilian airspace.
