Continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking under the Guarantee of Law and Order (GLO), the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Federal Police (PF) have seized more than 15 kg of illicit substances in recent days at Guarulhos Airport.

On Sunday (18), in support of the Federal Police, members of the FAB’s female contingent searched a passenger and found that she was carrying illegal substances. After forensics, the amount of cocaine was confirmed to be around 748 grams. In the early hours of Friday (16), more than 9.7 kg of cocaine were seized and, on Tuesday (13), around 5 kg of the same substance were found during a personal search, also in Guarulhos.

Since the start of Operation Air Bridge, 45 people have been arrested at Guarulhos and Galeão airports. The Operation was determined by the Law and Order Guarantee (GLO) decree No. 11.765, of November 1, 2023, with the aim of strengthening the fight against drug and arms trafficking and other illicit conduct, through preventive and repressive actions.

X-ray inspection

On Friday, after two suspects were identified by PF agents at Guarulhos Airport, FAB military personnel were called in to assist with an X-ray inspection in the special baggage dispatch room. A substance similar to cocaine was found in the suitcases of two passengers on a flight to Lisbon. The material was taken for forensics at the Federal Police station and the reports found that the first passenger was carrying 6.973 kg of pressed powder cocaine and the second passenger was carrying 2.780 kg of the substance. Both were arrested.

Personal search

In the boarding area of Guarulhos Airport, on February 13, FAB military personnel and PF agents began a search for a suspect and, during the personal search conducted by a female FAB military officer, suspicious material was found attached to the passenger’s body who, when questioned, assumed she was carrying illegal substances.

The suspect was taken to the PF Police Station, where she was found to be carrying 2,272g of raw mass and 1,986g of liquid cocaine. After certifying the fact, the Notice of Arrest in Flagrante was drawn up.

Last Sunday’s seizure was made after PF agents requested support from FAB military personnel to search a suspicious female passenger who was about to board a flight to Paris. The woman was carrying around 748 grams of the drug, including the amount of cocaine attached to her body and capsules.
