The Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), headquartered in São José dos Campos (SP), received, on July 5th and 6th, a delegation from the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE), where they presented the Postgraduate Program in Operational Applications (PPGAO), as well as presenting the sectors of the Organization, in order to exchange academic and operational areas, promoting interaction and cooperation between both, thus contributing to the strengthening of the aerospace sector.
The DCTA General Director, Air Lieutenant Brigadier Maurício Augusto Silveira de Medeiros, welcomed the delegation, which was composed by the Commander of COMAE, Air Lieutenant Brigadier Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues; by the Chief of the Joint Staff of COMAE, Air Major Alcides Teixeira Barbacovi; and by the Chief of the Space Operations Center, Air Brigadier Rodrigo Alvim de Oliveira.
The visit began at the Rectory of the Aeronautics Technological Institute (ITA), where they held a strategic meeting and got to know the Postgraduate Program in Operational Applications (PPGAO), showing the PPGAO’s work in the area of postgraduate education in Defense, which enables the education of officers at the master’s, doctoral and specialization levels within six programs in the areas of civil engineering, mechanics, aeronautics, electronics, computing, physics, space sciences and technologies.
Next, the delegation visited the ITA Space Center (CEI), which aims to provide space solutions in terms of valorization of internal resources, investing in research and projects that can strengthen the aerospace sector and the national industry.
As part of the program, the authorities went to the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE), where they watched an institutional presentation and visited the institute’s laboratories to learn about extremely important projects for the aerospace context, such as the Microsatellite Launching Vehicle (VLM-1).
For Air Lieutenant Brigadier Heraldo, the visit allowed for the exchange of information and the on-site verification of the projects being developed by DCTA. “This is an opportunity to exchange academic and operational areas, promoting interaction and cooperation between them. In addition, to discuss and propose ideas that aim to contribute to the strengthening of the aerospace sector’s power”, he emphasized.
