For the second time, the Public Competition for Admission to the Training Course for Naval Marines has seen more than 5,000 women register so far. In total, the competition already has more than 19,000 candidates.

Opened on January 5, registration will continue on the website (https://www.inscricao.marinha.mil.br/marinhafn/index_concursos.jsp?id_concurso=75) until February 16, with 240 places reserved for women. Last year, the first time it opened up opportunities for women, the competition had more than 7,000 applicants.

Among the requirements for admission to the competition are the need to be 18 years old and under 22 by June 30, 2025 and have completed high school. The first stage of the selection process consists of an educational exam, with tests in Portuguese and Mathematics, the date of which will be announced later. Those who pass the initial stage will also undergo a biographical and document check, psychological assessment, health inspection and a physical fitness test.

The entry of women as Marine Soldiers reinforces the institution’s pioneering spirit and completes the process of including women in all the Navy’s cadres, schools and instruction centers. Upon graduation, the future Soldiers will perform different operational functions in the various Military Organizations of the Fleet Marine Force.

Training course

The course will last approximately seventeen weeks and will be conducted at the Admiral Milcíades Portela Alves Instruction Center (CIAMPA) in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and, simultaneously, at the Brasília Instruction and Training Center (CIAB) in the federal capital, under a boarding school regime and exclusive dedication until graduation.

Of the 1,680 vacancies, 1,440 are destined for CIAMPA, which includes vacancies for female and male candidates in order of ranking. The remaining 240 places are offered to the CIAB and are intended for male candidates, taking into account their ranking in the competition.

During their training, the students will undergo an intense physical exercise routine and will be required to respect discipline and hierarchy so that they are prepared for the life of a Marine Soldier. Students will have access to quality education, housing, food, uniforms and pay. If they pass, at the end of this period they will be appointed Marine Soldiers and incorporated into the Brazilian Navy, earning the prerogatives of a military career.

First class of female soldiers

On February 19, the adaptation period for Class I/2024 of the Marine Soldier Training Course begins. Among the 720 young people approved, 120 are female, who will form part of the first class of female Marine Soldiers.

In the first two weeks, the Apprentice Marines will undergo a period of adaptation, when they will receive instruction in military doctrine, become familiar with the pillars of the career, such as hierarchy and discipline, learn united order, among other activities. After this period, they will begin the training course with instructional activities.
