Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos, CBC (Brazilian Cartridge Company), is holding the 1st CBC International Ballistics Conference from December 6 to 8, 2023, at its manufacturing plant in Ribeirão Pires (SP).

There will be three intense days of lectures and product clinics, where invited participants will have the opportunity to witness comparative tests, ballistic demonstrations, experimentation with weapons and ammunition, as well as getting to know the largest and most modern industrial complex in the manufacture of small arms ammunition in the world.

The event, which will also mark the inauguration of CBC’s new multi-purpose space, is the first and largest ballistics conference in the country and will be attended by more than 150 guests, public security agents (Military Police, Civil Police, Federal Police, Federal Highway Police, SENAPPEN, Legislative Police, Scientific Police, Penitentiary System and Municipal Guards), as well as members of the Armed Forces, ABIN and the Courts.

In addition, an exclusive shooting experience will be promoted, with two hours on the firing lines to try out 16 gun models and various ammunition configurations, including the CBC and Taurus launches.

The conference will feature several lectures, see below for the topics and speakers:

  • Ballistics – Luiz Gaspar R. Mariz (civil police officer from the Federal District);
  • Manufacturing processes, quality control and product development – Oldemar Alves (General Manager of Engineering at CBC);
  • Internal and External Ballistics – Paulo Elias Bedran Júnior (Federal Police agent);
  • Terminal Ballistics – Sérgio Fabrício Maniglia (Doc. Maniglia – Tigre Group PCPR police investigator);
  • New .38TPC caliber – Vicente Ancona (GER PCSP police investigator). This lecture will present the new caliber developed by Taurus in partnership with CBC, with a demonstration of performance test results;
  • Strategic Planning and Authorization of Purchases of PCE (Army Controlled Products) – Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Menezes de Oliveira (coordinator of Foreign Trade, National Trade and Industry of the DFPC – Controlled Products Inspection Directorate of the Brazilian Army).

In addition to lectures given by renowned specialists:

  • Comparative Rifle Ammunition – Maniglia Doc Clinic (Paraná Civil Police). The operational differences between rifle calibers (5.56x45mm / .223 Rem / 7.62x51mm / .308 Win / 300BLK / 6.5 Creedmor) and their applications will be presented.
  • Standards and Specifications – Clinic by Oldemar Alves (CBC’s General Engineering Manager). Information will be presented on the different international standards for ammunition production, as well as the CBC standard, testing protocols, quality controls, final audit and a visit to the ballistics laboratory.
  • FBI Protocol – Clinic run by Dr. João da Cunha Neto (Civil Police of Santa Catarina). Tests will be carried out under the FBI protocol with different CBC operational ammunition, with a demonstration of the results.
  • GA 12: Rifles and Cartridges – Bruno Sales Clinic (Paraná Military Police). Tests will be carried out with different CBC 12 gauge cartridges in a rifle with a Pump Action system.
  • Sniper – Clinic by Federal Police Agent Marcel Pellegrini (COT – Tactical Operations Command) and Cb. Marcos Sibinelli (São Paulo Military Police). Concepts and fundamentals on Sniper ammunition and weapons, presentation of the new CBC Ranger PRO precision rifle and comparison between the Sniper solutions in the CBC portfolio.
  • Sinterfire/CBC Frangible Ammunition – Clinic by Brandon Graves (CEO of Sinterfire). Presentation of the new CBC frangible ammunition, exclusive technology from the new CBC group company.

The 1st CBC International Ballistics Conference will also include a visit to the component, ammunition, tooling and machinery factories at the company’s industrial complex in Ribeirão Pires (SP).
