The imminent challenges generated by the use of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the global order will be the topic of discussion of a panel at the XX Forte Conference, the largest international security forum in Latin America, which reaches its 20th edition in 2023 and takes place on June 1st and 2nd at the Museum of Tomorrow, in Rio.
The meeting will address issues such as the impact of Artificial Intelligence on growing international rivalries and nuclear non-proliferation agreement negotiations; the establishment of regulations that allow technological innovation and mitigate ethical and moral issues; ensuring the sovereign development of AI technologies in an unstable international environment; and how Europe and Latin America can respond to this imminent process.
The Director of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), Miriam Wimmer, certified as an expert in personal data protection by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP/E), will be one of the speakers. Serap Güler, Member of the Defense Committee of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, and Juha Heikkilä, Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies, will also participate. Antônio Jorge Ramalho, professor at the University of Brasília (UnB) and expert in International Security and National Defense, will be the moderator of the panel, entitled “The Changing Global Order in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Prospects.”
“As international power shifts continue to alter the geopolitical order and some powers choose to invade their neighbors, it is increasingly important that Europe and Latin America collaborate for a rules-based order of the future,” Serap Güler says of the panel’s subject matter.
The 20th edition of the Forte Conference will have as its theme this year the “Changing Global Order: Facing the Perfect Storm”. The event is an initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS-Brazil), in partnership with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and support from the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil.
