The Head of the South America Division of the European Union diplomatic service, Veronique Lorenzo, has confirmed her presence at the XX Forte Conference, the largest international security forum in Latin America, which reaches its 20th edition in 2023. The event, June 1 and 2 at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, will have the theme “Global Order in Transformation: facing the Perfect Storm.”

“Strengthening strategic partnerships is essential to mitigate the negative effects of war on the global economy. By stabilizing global markets, building trust and increasing cooperation, they will promote long-term growth and economic stability,” says Veronique as she comments on her participation in the panel “Global Economy and Strategic Partnerships in Times of War”

With more than 30 years of international experience and working in several countries with conflict zones, such as Afghanistan, Uganda and Mozambique, Veronique will be together with Henning Speck, National Security Advisor of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, in the panel mediated by the Brazilian Ambassador in Germany, Roberto Jaguaribe. Issues such as economic sanctions and the benefits that strategic geopolitical partnerships can provide in times of war are topics of discussion.

The Conference is an initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS-Brazil), in partnership with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and support from the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil.
