Brasília (DF), 11/29/2022 – The Ministry of Defense (MD), through the Secretariat of Defense Products (SEPROD), participates in the 27th Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The event takes place from November 28 to December 2, 2022, at the World Forum in The Hague, Netherlands.

In this edition, SEPROD sent a representative from the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DECTI) to address issues of interest to the Brazilian Defense. The purpose is to subsidize actions related to Science, Technology and Innovation (CT&I) developed in specialized institutes of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces and the national Defense Industrial Base.

The Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was signed in Paris, on January 13, 1993, with the objective of preventing the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons, as well as promoting international security and stability; general and complete disarmament; and global economic development. The conference, held annually, is attended by the 193 member state representatives of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
