Paramaribo (Suriname) – In February and March 2023, the Military Advisor of the Officer Development Course of the Suriname Army, Captain Figueira, and the Sports Advisor of the Suriname Armed Forces, Captain Godoy, conducted, respectively, the training for Instructors of the Captains Development Course and the Operational Physical Training Course for Sports Company military personnel.

The training of the Captains Improvement Course instructors aimed to prepare the instructors of the Suriname Armed Forces to conduct the 2023 Improvement Course that will begin next month. In this context, instructions were given on subjects such as: military symbology, order of operations, tactical planning in offensive and defensive operations, and teaching methodology. In this opportunity, the instructors were able to recycle knowledge, exchange doctrinal experiences, and get up to date as a way to prepare for the transmission of knowledge to future students.

The objective of the Operational Physical Training Course was to prepare the Physical Education instructors to use new methodologies aiming at providing better conditions for the troop’s operational physical development. The course was divided in 3 modules where subjects such as Operational Cross, TRX, and Operational Circuit were approached. Thus, this course provided the necessary knowledge to conduct physical training at the platoon and company level.

The closing ceremony of the activities took place on March 24, with the presence of the Suriname Minister of Defense, Minister Mathoera, the Brazilian Ambassador to Suriname, Ambassador Raphael Azeredo, the Commander of the Suriname Armed Forces, Colonel Kioe A Sen, the Commander of the Institute of Defense Education, Colonel Hew A Kee, and the Brazilian Army, Naval and Defense Attaché in Suriname, Lieutenant Colonel Fernandes Henn. In the opportunity the students were given their certificates. The Surinamese authorities expressed in their speeches their gratitude for the strong cooperation that the Brazilian Army has had with Suriname, contributing greatly to the transformation of the Surinamese Armed Forces in these more than ten years that the advisory services have been in this country.
