Curitiba (PR) – On March 27th and 28th, the Divisionary Artillery of the 3rd and 5th Army Divisions coordinated the 1st Workshop for the M109A5 and M109A5+ BR Self-propelled Armored Howitzer Combat Vehicles (VBC OAP – Viaturas Blindadas de Combate Obuseiro Autopropulsado). The activity was held at the 5th Self-Propelled Field Artillery Group, with the objective of leveling knowledge regarding operation and maintenance activities, as well as discussing and finding solutions for relevant issues regarding these heavy armaments.
The participants shared experiences and insights about the energy supply for the self-propelled howitzer (Self-propelled artillery also called locomotive artillery), the use of the navigation and fire control system and the Digital Field Artillery System, as well as about the logistical functions of supply and maintenance.
On the last day, working groups were established with military personnel from different specializations, in order to propose lines of action on issues of interest to the M109A5 and M109A5+ BR fleet, which were presented and discussed by all members.
The Workshop was attended by 19 military organizations from the Army and the Armament Material Industry, bringing together professionals from the Artillery weapon, the Armament Material staff, military and civilian engineers, who applied their knowledge for the continuous development of the Campaign Artillery System Subprogram.
