Brasília (DF) – Last week, the Army Commander visited Europe, where he met with authorities from the French Army and the Polish Army, in a series of activities to increase cooperation and interoperability between the armed forces of friendly nations.

On April 8 and 9, General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva and General Pierre Schill, Commander of the French Army, discussed the possibility of expanding integration on the common Amazon border, the development of joint exercises and strengthening exchanges in the area of military education.

During their stay in France, the Brazilian delegation visited the Future Combat Command, which demonstrated how the French Army is transforming and reorganizing itself to assimilate the changes imposed by new threats and new capabilities resulting from technological development.

The Brazilian soldiers also visited the Urban Combat Center at the Inter-Army Training Command and learned about the Scorpion Project, which manages combat data to speed up decision-making and facilitate integration between maneuver and fire support with the 155 mm Caesar cannon.

The Brazilian Army Commander’s visit to France reaffirms the mutual trust between the armies and marks the relaunch of a historic partnership, dating back to the French Military Mission in Brazil between 1920-1940, the fruits of which are still present in the culture of the Brazilian Army.

The Brazilian delegation then made its first official visit to Poland, from April 10 to 12. Brazil has strong historical ties with the country and is home to the second largest population of Polish descendants outside Europe.

The Commander of the Polish Army, Major General Piotr Trytek, received the Commander of the Brazilian Army and gave a briefing on his Land Force, pointing out that the current investment in Defence corresponds to 4% of GDP, which has contributed to the modernization and acquisition of new military capabilities.

The Brazilian Army delegation visited the 1st Armoured Brigade in Warsaw, a traditional Polish military organization, and also got to know some of the projects developed by the Polish Armaments Group, a conglomerate that brings together around 50 state-owned companies in the defence industry.

Meetings with senior Polish commanders fostered the exchange of experience and allowed for the discussion of some possibilities for military cooperation between the countries.
