Resende (RJ) – From August 7 to 11, the 31st Field Artillery Group held a major exercise in the Fire Support Simulator (SIMAF) at the Agulhas Negras Military Academy. The exercise was conducted by instructors and monitors from the AMAN Artillery and trained 84 soldiers from the Group, including officers and non-commissioned officers.

The Fire Support Simulator is an extremely valuable teaching and training tool for the Brazilian Army, as it allows troops to carry out battlefield actions through the representation of various scenarios. With the simulation, the artillery can carry out a wide range of missions with a high degree of realism, safety and economy of means.

Various Simulated Military Problems were presented to members of the various artillery subsystems (Direction and Coordination, Topography, Observation, Line of Fire, Communications). The soldiers evaluated the problems and presented solutions using various firing techniques, such as barrage, zone firing, smoke and illumination. The simulator also helps to observe impacts on targets and correct operations in the line of fire.

The 31st Field Artillery Group achieved its objectives in terms of training officers and non-commissioned officers in the Fire Support Simulator. The exercise helped to integrate the subsystems of its Field Artillery and to increase the operational capability of the troops.
