Between March 5 and 15, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) took part in the Storm Flag Operational Exercise in the city of Alexandria, Louisiana, in the United States. The aircraft assigned to this mission was the KC-390 Millennium, belonging to the First Air Transportation Group (1st GTT) – Squadron Zeus. In addition to the 1st GTT, the Brazilian delegation included military personnel from the 1st Squadron of the 1st Transport Group (1st/1st GT) – Gordo Fleet and the Aerial Rescue Squadron (EAS), better known as PARA-SAR, totaling 25 military personnel.

The aim was to strengthen the partnership and interoperability between the US Air Force and the FAB, as well as contributing to the improvement of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) related to the use of transport aviation in conflict environments.

For the Commander of Zeus Squadron and participant in the exercise, Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Américo Pereira, this exchange of experiences is important for the development of the institutions. “Storm Flag offered an opportunity to perfect the operational capabilities of the KC-390 Millennium and project the aircraft on the world stage. Experience in joint exercises is fundamental to fully acquiring the aircraft’s operational potential and evolving the doctrine for its safe use,” he said.

The FAB’s participation in Operation Storm Flag reinforced Brazil’s commitment to international cooperation and the capacity of its Armed Forces to act in different situations and environments, contributing to regional and global security, defense and stability.
