Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – Technical teams from the Brazilian Army and the United States Army met to begin the executive activities of Project Agreement PA-A-23-0001, aimed at researching and developing technologies for the production of extended-range 120 mm mortar ammunition.
The project envisages the development of an ammunition with innovative technologies, such as low-sensitivity energy formulations for propellants and explosives, new grenade body geometry concepts for better ballistic performance, new concepts for an additional propulsion engine and exhaust nozzles, among other concepts. The aim is to achieve greater operational ranges, lower future production costs and, above all, interoperability capabilities between users.
The meeting involved representatives of military organizations dedicated to the science and technology of war materials and members of the National Defense Base. The guidelines for the initial four years of the project, agreed with representatives of the US Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command, were established. The initial Project Management Plan was signed by the representatives of each nation.
