Uruguaiana (RS) – On April 8, the 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade received the Argentine and Brazilian Army Committees for the 1st coordination meeting of the ARANDU Combined Exercise – 2024/2026 cycle – which will be held in Rio Grande do Sul. Operation Arandu is an exercise aimed at consolidating military cooperation and strengthening the bonds of union, cooperation and friendship between the armies of Brazil and Argentina.

In 2023, the exercise took place in Argentina, with the participation of 300 soldiers from the Brazilian Army and 348 from the Argentine Army. On that occasion, the Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, accompanied the actions and stressed the importance of the exercise in strengthening the partnership between the two nations. “It’s a great pleasure to be here and to be able to see so many resources mobilized, so much effort rewarded.”

On the Brazilian side, representatives of the Army General Staff, the Land Operations Command, the Aviation Command, the Special Operations Command, the Southern Military Command, the 3rd Army Division, the 12th Light Infantry Aeromobile Brigade, the Paratrooper Infantry Brigade and the 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade are taking part in the coordination meeting. On the Argentine side, the Argentine Military Attaché in Brazil, Colonel De La Vega, and members of the military organizations involved in the Arandu Combined Exercise by the Argentine Army are present at the discussions.
