On Tuesday (12), the Minister of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro, was awarded the Order of Industrial Merit São Paulo, during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp). The honor is in recognition of the work of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense in strengthening the Defense Industrial Base (BID).

During the ceremony, Minister José Mucio highlighted the dedication of the Armed Forces’ military personnel to the country and the Brazilian people. He also praised the IDB, which accounts for 5% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product and generates 2.9 million direct and indirect jobs. “The spotlight and natural attention is on the IDB, which represents our productive autonomy and expands the national defense capacity, with many products also aimed at the security, science and technology sector. The IDB plays an important role in Brazil’s current economic cycle, and is a major driving force in the process of national reconstruction,” he said.

Order of Industrial Merit São Paulo – is intended to honor national and foreign personalities and institutions that have become worthy of the industry’s recognition or admiration. The medal was created by the São Paulo Industrial Merit Resolution No. 4 of April 5, 2007.
