Formosa (GO) – Advanced technology and high response capability with firepower. These were some of the characteristics of the ASTROS Strategic Program presented to the Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro Filho, and to the Army Commander, Army General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, during the visit to the Artillery Command, located in Formosa, on June 12.

The delegation got to know the modernization of the Land Force with the evolution of the Missile and Rocket System, within the ASTROS Program. Besides this, the Army Artillery Commander, Brigadier General Moisés da Paixão Junior, explained how the Army, through artillery, has a high operational capacity and constant improvement of the troops and their systems, improving their combat effectiveness.

For Minister José Múcio, who visited Fort Santa Bárbara for the first time, the Land Force plays a fundamental role in the defense and security of the country. “It was impressive to see all the technological advancement of the Program and its magnitude for the development of the Country. It fills us with pride to see a Brazilian Army that offers security to the nation.”

The ASTROS Program has the capacity to neutralize threats in national territory and strengthens the national defense industry, boosting technological development and the production of advanced military equipment. “This is a hub of modernity within the Army. It is dissuasive and encourages science, technology, research and innovation in Brazil,” explained the Army Commander.

The visitors also witnessed the actual shooting of the ASTROS System, its performance, strategic mobility and flexibility of its employment.

ASTROS Strategic Program: high-tech rocket and missile system

Formosa (GO) – From March 6 to June 2, the Missile and Rocket Artillery Training Center conducted the Missile and Rocket System Operation courses for officers and sergeants, and the Missile and Rocket System Electronic Maintenance Course.

The courses were held at Fort Santa Barbara, in Formosa, following the Army Artillery Command’s guidelines. The training began with a distance learning phase, followed by 12 weeks of theoretical, practical and simulation instruction. The objective is to enable the military to perform functions related to the tactical employment, shooting technique, logistics, operation and maintenance of the ASTROS System. In all, 46 officers, lieutenants and sergeants of the Brazilian Army and the Brazilian Navy Marine Corps were trained.

ASTROS System – The ASTROS Strategic Program has means capable of providing long-range fire support with high precision and mobility (reaching targets between 10 and 300 km). Its objective is to equip the Land Force with a high technology missile and rocket system. It has a multiple rocket launcher capable of firing missiles and rockets of different calibers, with a range of up to 300 km. It is equipped with communication, control, and monitoring systems. It was established by the Brazilian Army in the 1980s and, since then, has constantly evolved, incorporating advanced technologies.

Minister of Defense visits the Cyber Defense Command

Brasília (DF) – The Cyber Defense Command (ComDCiber) received the visit of the Minister of Defense, Mr. José Mucio Monteiro Filho, on Monday, June 12th. The Ministry of Defense delegation included the Army Commander, Army General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, Luiz Henrique Pochyly da Costa, and other authorities from the three Armed Forces.

The activity was conducted by the Commander of Cyber Defense, accompanied by the Chief of the Army Department of Science and Technology, Army General Achilles Furlan Neto. During the visit, the Cyber Defense Commander gave a lecture about the Cyber Sector and the Cyber Guardian Exercise, the largest cyber protection exercise of critical infrastructures in the Southern Hemisphere, which contributes to the cyber resilience of the Brazilian State.
