The third edition of the event organized by MundoGEO will discuss the business opportunities generated from the Artemis Program and the reopening of the Alcântara Space Center (CEA). The meeting will take place in São Paulo between May 9 and 11

The launch of the HANBIT-TLV rocket from the South Korean company Innospace in March this year was the first by a private company from the Alcântara Space Center (CEA), in Maranhão. This milestone in the Brazilian space sector and the opportunities that are arising from it will be at the center of the SpaceBR Show 2023 debates, which will be held between May 9 and 11 at the Frei Caneca Convention Center in São Paulo.

The event, which has the institutional support of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), an agency linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), is the main space sector event in Latin America, and will have a business fair and a forum with simultaneous translation in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

The first day of SpaceBR Show 2023 will focus on Brazil’s opportunities in the new space race, including the country’s participation in the Artemis Program, developed by NASA and that intends to take humans to the moon again, including the first woman, and also to reach Mars in a manned flight.

In addition, a prominent space will be given to the reopening of the Alcântara Space Center (CEA), the main Brazilian spaceport, with debates on how private companies can benefit from the use of the site – besides Innospace, other companies are qualified to carry out launches. We will also discuss how this new moment will impact the Alcântara region and the new businesses that will move the space and logistics chain for the CEA operation.

The second day will discuss how space exploration can benefit people here on Earth, with discussions about the advances in medicine and nutrition due to space experiments, as well as the possibilities of using the resources found in space and the contributions of space tourism to the sector.

On the last day, the focus will be on startups and how they are changing the space landscape around the world. Eight startups will have the opportunity to present their business to investors in the Space Pitch 2023, which will award prizes for the best initiatives. The pitch is supported by Amazon Web Services (AMS), which will distribute $17,500 in credits for developing projects using cloud computing services.

“A window of opportunity is forming in the Brazilian space sector. The SpaceBR show event has the purpose of connecting the main public and private players in this sector, aiming to strengthen it and transform the country into a protagonist of this market in Latin America,” comments MundoGEO’s CEO, Emerson Granemann.

Companies and institutions such as AEB, Ministry of Defense, Alliance of Brazilian Space Startups (ASB), Aerospace Industries Association of Brazil (AIAB), SCCON Geospatial, Visiona Tecnologia Espacial, Telespazio Brasil, C6 Launch Systems and Newspace Systems are confirmed at the space industry fair. And in order to connect the actors of the space sector, the SpaceBR Show will also open space for a Business Roundtable for buyers and suppliers.

Parallel Events

In this third edition, the SpaceBR Show will also host two important parallel events. The 2nd Meeting of the Leaders of Space Agencies Members of the International Italo-Latin American Organization (IILA Meeting) will gather space agencies from Latin American countries, and the Space Education Summit, together with Ideia Space, will present to managers of the educational sector the benefits of Space Education for children and teenagers.
