With an innovative design and bespoke software, the Future Operator Workspace sets new standards in human-machine interaction and battlefield management.

The operator combat console offers a clear and distinct presentation of the tactical and operational environment and optimizes operators’ ability to process complex cognitive decisions in an instant. Being a more focused environment, its features combine to reduce the operator’s mental load and fatigue, as well as enabling longer reaction times, saving valuable seconds in critical situations.

“Our Future Operator Workspace is a complete evolution of the naval operator’s combat console, seamlessly integrating human-centered design and ergonomics with a sophisticated user-machine interface for an exciting vision of the future,” says Johan Hägg, Saab’s product manager for Surveillance. “The innovation and technology employed in the platform enables a greater tactical advantage even in the most extreme conditions and, when combined with Saab’s combat management system, the platform significantly increases operator effectiveness and survivability for naval operators,” said Hägg.

The Future Operator Workspace demonstrator is the result of extensive research and development based on Saab’s extensive experience and was conceptualized, developed and manufactured in just eight months – drawing on the experience of Saab’s global hardware and software experts, academic leaders in industrial design and global naval operators.

Highly functional and customizable, the platform has a smaller footprint, without operational compromise, and employs Saab’s tailor-made combat management software with advanced functionality and new forms of interaction.

The Future Operator Workspace was on display in London at DSEI on Saab’s stand, where visitors were able to experience the platform for themselves.

Saab has a strong legacy of proven combat systems hardware and software, leveraging the development and delivery of multifunctional consoles for more than five decades.
