Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) for MSHORAD, the low altitude mobile air defense solution. The contract period is from 2024 to 2026 and the value of the order is approximately SEK 300 million. Saab registered the order in the fourth quarter of 2023.

FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces will use MSHORAD in two configurations, both integrated with the BvS10 armored vehicle, to better define Sweden’s future mobile anti-aircraft defense requirements.

“We are proud that our Swedish customer has chosen to use Saab’s mobile low-altitude air defense solution for this purpose. This system is truly mobile, providing crucial protection for forces on the battlefield,” says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area.

Saab’s MSHORAD is an integrated solution in a vehicle that can identify, engage and destroy airborne threats, including SARPs (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) and armored helicopters, quickly and effectively. The system consists of a mobile radar unit, based on the Giraffe 1X radar, and a mobile firing unit, based on the RBS 70 NG, all connected to Saab’s air defense command and control solution, GBAD C2.
