New vessels arrive at the Amazon Military CommandNew vessels arrive at the Amazon Military Command

Manaus (AM) – On the afternoon of December 13, the Amazon Military Command received two new Empurradores, river raft propulsion vessels. They will join the fleet of the Amazon Military Command’s Vessel Center and will be used in the logistical and operational transportation of supplies and troops in the Brazilian Amazon.

The new pushers feature motorization and navigation aid technology, such as electronic engines, enabling better monitoring and the generation of reports in real time, by means of an integrated radar, probe and GPS system. Its new motorization can reach up to 12 knots, even when pushing its maximum weight capacity. The new acquisition results in savings, efficiency and lower emissions of polluting gases, demonstrating the Brazilian Army’s commitment to sustainable solutions.

At this stage, two pushers were delivered, named after important rivers in the region: Solimões and Rio Negro. One of the new Ferry Boats, a self-propelled vessel capable of transporting personnel and material, will also be presented soon. These vessels are in the final stages of construction and are expected to be delivered in March 2024.

The construction of the vessels was financed with funds from the Army’s Strategic Program for the Integrated Border Monitoring System (SISFRON). Their main objective, therefore, will be to strengthen territorial defense and guarantee sovereignty on the border strip. The new vessels reinforce the Brazilian state’s power of control and deterrence and contribute to the effective development of the northern region.
