The Third Squadron of the Seventh Aviation Group (3/7th GAV) – Neptune Squadron, based at Belém Air Base (PA), celebrated last Tuesday (May 17), the operational elevation of Lieutenant Gabriela Ariana Fernandes do Couto as Patrol Pilot (1PP).
The Officer, who has been a staff member since 2021, enters the Air Unit’s history, becoming the youngest pilot, at 27 years old, to exercise this operational function and the only Patrol Aircraft Commander in activity in the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

I have to thank everyone who helped me in this process, especially those who taught and supported me so that I could get here. Hail to the patrol!” said the Lieutenant, upon returning from the operational flight.
The officer reached the operational marks and successfully concluded all the aerial tests, besides having been unanimously approved in the Operational Council. As a result, she will now perform the Air Force actions assigned to Patrol Aviation, exercising the duties and responsibilities of an Aircraft Commander.
The Chief of Operations of Neptune Squadron, Major Edesemario Lopes Bispo, said that this is a milestone for Patrol Aviation. “It is evident to the young Patrolmen that commitment and dedication overcome any difficulties. I congratulate the military for the achievement, and the merit is entirely hers”, he said.
Lieutenant Gabriela’s flight takes place during the week alluding to the Patrol Aviation Day. “On May 22 we will commemorate the 80 years of the Baptism of Fire of the Air Force and the sinking of the Italian submarine Barbarigo.
The flight of the Officer evidences the continuity of the fierce spirit of the young patrolmen of yesterday and today, engendering the imposing history of our glorious Aviation” stated the Squadron Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Aviator Ciro Appip Lambiase.
