Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) has acquired IPVideo, creator of the HALO Smart Sensor, an all-in-one smart sensor that detects health and safety threats in real time. The company is based in Bay Shore, New York.
The HALO Smart Sensor is an all-in-one security and defense device, with integrated vapor detection and air quality monitoring, detection of gunshots, noise, emergency keywords and unusual movements. In areas where cameras and video security solutions are not suitable, such as bathrooms, classrooms, hospital and hotel rooms, the sensor improves situational awareness and extends the reach of security while protecting privacy.
“With advanced sensor capabilities, HALO extends our end-to-end physical security offering by integrating an alternative threat detection solution to video into our safety and security ecosystem,” says Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Motorola Solutions. “We see this as an opportunity to add detection solutions that help our customers protect people, property and public and private environments.”
This acquisition reinforces Motorola Solutions’ commitment to improving security and defense by offering a cost-effective sensor that is easy to implement and operate for companies of all sizes. Motorola Solutions and IPVideo will continue to provide security solutions that help create safer schools, hospitals, hotels and businesses.
“We are excited to join Motorola Solutions and look forward to strengthening the innovative solutions we offer our customers,” says David Antar, president of IPVideo. “Together, we will continue to invest in and develop Motorola Solutions’ leading security and defense ecosystem, equipping customers with advanced ways to protect people and improve operational insights.”
