35 countries sent representatives for meetings during the event, which brings together the Public and Corporate Security industry in São Paulo

More than 35 countries were represented by 69 official delegations taking part in LAAD Security & Defence in an intense agenda of meetings with the more than 100 companies exhibiting at the event and representatives of the armed forces.

The event, the main meeting of the industry dedicated to developing solutions in equipment, technology and services for public and corporate security, began on the 2nd and continues until Thursday, the 4th, at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo.

Over the three days of the fair, around 600 business and networking meetings are scheduled between the delegations and the exhibiting companies. The Chinese delegation is one of the largest, made up of 10 people, and those from Belize and Colombia were led by the Minister of Defense and Vice-Minister of Defense, respectively. “These delegations come to LAAD to explore business opportunities with world-class suppliers,” explains Sergio Jardim, director of Creative Events, the event’s organizer.

Exhibitors and news

Aerotech showed the technologies of three of its represented companies: Smiths Detection and its solutions for detecting CBRNE threats, Viken and its backscatter technologies for identifying threats in vehicles and CAA with solutions for detecting weapons and explosives.

ALTAVE brought intelligent monitoring solutions for the Security and Defense sector. The company, based in the São José dos Campos Technological Innovation Park, was invited by Finep, its investor, to take part in the event, exhibiting its AI innovations for threat detection. Established in the Security and Defense segment since it was founded in 2011 at the Aeronautical Technology Institute (ITA), ALTAVE is the only manufacturer of aerostats in the southern hemisphere and has internationally patented technology, including the CE marking that indicates high quality and approval of products to be marketed in the European Union.

In terms of weapons, Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos presented its frangible ammunition produced with SinterFire projectiles, an American company that is now part of the CBC Global Ammunition Group. SinterFire, founded in 1998 and located in Pennsylvania, produces the most widely used lead-free frangible projectiles in the world, made with an exclusive composition of copper and tin and a heat treatment process developed by the company itself. The frangible projectiles disintegrate into small particles upon impact with hard surfaces, thus reducing the possibility of ricochets.

Another of the company’s novelties at LAAD is the CBC Ranger Pro precision rifle, aimed at professionals in the public security sector and specially designed to meet the demands of the police environment.

Taurus is exhibiting more than 160 models, including revolvers, pistols and tactical weapons, and for the first time at a trade fair in the sector, it is exhibiting M.I.M. (Metal Injection Molding) technology and a compound, which is the raw material for M.I.M., developed by Taurus, which will mitigate dependence on external suppliers and increase the company’s self-sufficiency, as well as allowing it to sell to third parties in different businesses and markets, making it a new business center for Taurus.
