On Wednesday (11), the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) held the 1st Conference on Environmental Protection. The event highlighted issues, projects and solutions developed by the Armed Forces for environmental preservation. The meeting was supported by the Peruvian Ministry of Defense, as well as representatives from the United States, Brazil and Colombia.

On the occasion, the Director General of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board, Major General Flávio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto, stressed the importance of the initiative to promote knowledge and experiences aimed at expanding good environmental practices. “This event marks a significant moment in the union of efforts to promote environmental protection throughout the hemisphere,” he said.

“The mission is noble and each participant in this Conference can play a fundamental role in the search for a more sustainable and secure future for all of us. Environmental protection is not just a responsibility, but an obligation that we share as nations committed to our planet,” emphasized Brigadier Flávio.

The IADB is an international military organization made up of civilian and military representatives from 28 countries. It provides technical, consultative and educational advisory services on military and defense issues inherent to the American hemisphere, for the Organization of American States (OAS) and its member states. The IADB is based in Washington, USA.
