As of today, Uberaba is connected by non-stop flights to the international airport of São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU), with four round-trip flights a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The inaugural Guarulhos-Uberaba-Guarulhos flights were attended by local authorities on the ground and in the air, such as Mayor Elisa Araújo, Eduardo Galini, head of the Tourism Development Section, Carlos Alberto Menezes da Costa, Infraero’s superintendent in the city of Minas Gerais, and Ciro Camargo, GOL’s Government Relations manager. The press was invited to the inauguration event in the mining city.

With banner cuts in both Guarulhos and Uberaba, as these were inaugural flights, operations in GOL’s newest destination began with a commemorative tone, so that special speeches were made in the departure lounges of both airports, such as this one, in the countryside of Minas Gerais: “GOL celebrates another milestone in its history and you are part of it. Always thinking of the best experience for our customers, today we inaugurated our base here in the city and the new Uberaba – Guarulhos route, with 4 weekly flights. Now it’s easier to fly around Brazil and the world from the interior of Minas Gerais. Thank you for always being with us! On both legs, customers received a free GOL nécessaire.

After the ceremony, flight G3 8006 left Guarulhos at 9:30 this morning, landing in the Triângulo Mineiro at 11:00. Flight G3 8007 took off for the São Paulo capital at 11:30 a.m. in Uberaba, landing at 1:15 p.m. in Guarulhos.

“Minas Gerais is a great state, located in Brazil’s most developed and populous region, the Southeast, which plays a key role in GOL’s operations. Bringing more connectivity to Uberaba and the Triângulo Mineiro, with the convenience, speed and safety offered by GOL, is a reason for great joy for all of us and only contributes to regional and Brazilian growth,” says Ciro Camargo, the Company’s Government Relations Manager.

“We are excited about GOL’s arrival in Uberaba. The expansion of connections that the flights will allow gives us a perspective of economic development for our city. More agility, more possibilities for business and tourism. Welcome, GOL. We are very happy,” says Elisa Araújo, Mayor of Uberaba.

“This GOL flight, direct from Uberaba to Guarulhos, is another achievement of the mayor Elisa Araújo’s government. It will bring many benefits to Uberaba and the region. And, considering Guarulhos is an important Brazilian airport, with connections to Brazil and the world, it will allow more agility, safety, and shorter connection times. This achievement will strengthen not only the business link, but also the coming of entrepreneurs and tourists to our city”, says Rui Ramos, Uberaba’s Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Innovation.

The flights between Uberaba and Guarulhos are operated by partner company VOEPASS, a service of GOL. On the round-trip routes, VOEPASS uses the ATR-72 aircraft, with capacity for 68 passengers, which is ideal for the characteristics of the local market. The tickets, in turn, are sold exclusively by GOL.

“As of today, GOL’s presence in Uberaba will make it easier for customers to travel to São Paulo for business or tourism, bringing even more competitiveness to the Minas Gerais state interior to receive more business by shortening travel time. Thanks to our flight distribution center at the Guarulhos International Airport, our customers from the Triângulo Mineiro will be able to travel not only to São Paulo, but also to dozens of domestic and international destinations served by GOL and its partners,” says Bruno Balan, GOL’s Airline Network Planning Manager.

Connectivity with Brazil and the world is a differential of the new route connecting Uberaba to Brazil’s economic capital. From São Paulo/Guarulhos, one of GOL’s major hubs, customers have at their disposal a wide domestic and international airline network made available by both GOL and its partner airlines, with more than 35 destinations to choose from.

Moreover, passengers who travel between Uberaba and Guarulhos with GOL can earn miles and redeem tickets through the Smiles loyalty program.

“Being present in this expansion, which aims to meet current customer demand, fills us with pride. And being able to offer the benefit of earning miles when flying is a relevant incentive to customers so they can travel more and more and live transforming experiences with their miles,” says Rodrigo Possatto, Smiles’ Marketplace Travel Director. “It is possible to request the accumulated miles up to six months after the travel date, through the Smiles website or application,” adds the executive.
