December saw the renewal of the logistics support agreement between Helibras and the Ministry of Defense (MD). The contract was signed at the São Paulo Aeronautical Material Park (PAMA-SP) by the Director of PAMA-SP, Colonel Marcelo Rodrigues dos Reis Pontes and the President of Helibras, Alberto Duek, for the operational maintenance of the fleet of H225M helicopters used by the Navy, Army and Air Force.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Aeronautical and War Material Directorate (DIRMAB), Major General Ramiro Kirsch Pinheiro; the Head of the Technical Division of PAMA-SP, Colonel Claudomiro Feltran Júnior; the Internal Control Agent of PAMA-SP, Colonel Carlos Augusto Júnior; the Head of the Logistics Management Office (EGLOG), Lieutenant Colonel Renato Pereira Vieira; and the Vice-President of Helibras, Alessandre Fontes Sampaio.

The strategic partnership between the Armed Forces and Helibras, highlighted by the contract, represents a significant step forward in the operational improvement and sustainability of the H225M helicopters, part of the H-XBR Project. The first logistics support contract was established in 2018 and, since then, the helicopter fleet has experienced several technological improvements, making the project even more up-to-date and capable of meeting the challenges of the future.

The fleet of H225M helicopters in operation in Brazil stands out for its robust operational capabilities, which include certified versions for launching AM39 EXOCET missiles, advanced electronic warfare systems and in-flight refueling systems. These and other capabilities make the H-XBR project one of the most modern in the world.

Complete support

By covering all phases of the aircraft’s life cycle, the agreement offers comprehensive logistical support, from the procurement of materials to the contracting of technical assistance, supplies and specific services. This measure not only raises the level of availability of the H225M aircraft, but also strengthens the combat capability of the Armed Forces.

Also noteworthy is the importance of interoperability between Armed Forces that share the same aircraft model. The ability to harmonize operations and maintenance, when necessary, provides a rapid and effective response in strategic scenarios. The contract also boosts national industry by fostering local expertise in aircraft maintenance, which translates into savings, autonomy in terms of technical capacity and the development of skills in the aerospace sector.

National cooperation

The partnership between Helibras and the Ministry of Defense strengthens the operational efficiency of the Brazilian Armed Forces in the operation of H225M helicopters. By ensuring comprehensive logistical support for the fleet, it also boosts the advancement of Brazil’s aerospace industry. The collaboration, together with the enhancement of interoperability and the promotion of the national industry, underscores the joint commitment to guaranteeing excellence in military operations and maintaining the sovereignty of Brazilian airspace.

Helibras President Alberto Duek declared his satisfaction at signing the contract. “The most important thing for the company is the credibility of the product. We want to help the Armed Forces by increasing the availability of their aircraft. Brazilian Defense and Security need to work in partnership, which is the most appropriate word to use between Helibras and the Armed Forces. I would like to thank everyone involved for their professionalism in signing this contract. At this time, I am committed to serving those who serve the country,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, the Director of PAMA, Colonel Marcelo Rodrigues dos Reis Pontes, closed the meeting by thanking Helibras for their loyalty and partnership. “The aim of this contract is to increase the availability of the fleet. With this, the Armed Forces will gain greater combat capability,” he concluded.
