Between November 6th and 10th, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) took part in the 4th Brazil-Sweden Innovation Week, held in Stockholm, Sweden.

Organized by the Brazilian Embassy in Sweden and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the FAB was represented by the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), the General Staff of the Air Force (EMAER), the Preparedness Command (COMPREP) and the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA).

Representing the Commander of the Air Force, the Director of the DCTA, Air Brigadier Maurício Augusto Silveira de Medeiros, spoke at the opening ceremony and took part in the High Level Group (HLG), in coordination with the MCTI. The meeting addressed the recognition of the strategic role of Brazil-Sweden cooperation in the aeronautics area; the future of the partnership, and the inclusion of new projects in the Air Domain Study.

The FAB delegation also included: the Head of DCTA’s Technical Subdepartment, Brigadier Engineer Luciano Valentim Rechiuti; the Rector of the Aeronautics Technology Institute (ITA), Anderson Ribeiro; the EMAER representative, Colonel Aviator Edgard Vale Ribeiro; and the Aeronautics Command’s Science and Technology Institutes: ITA, Operational Applications Institute (IAOp); Advanced Studies Institute (IEAv); Institute of Exact and Applied Sciences (Icea).

The event also brought together representatives from government, academia and industry from both countries to discuss cooperation in areas of innovation, including aeronautics, artificial intelligence and automation.

Brazil-Sweden cooperation is a major driver of the triple helix of innovation, in which government, academia and industry are partners. For Brazilian academia, ITA plays a leading role in guiding most of the projects.

The event is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the aeronautics field. The action plan defined at the event should guarantee the continuity of the partnership and the realization of new joint projects.

Brazil-Sweden cooperation is a successful example of the triple helix of innovation. The participation of government, academia and industry has been fundamental to the development of innovative projects in the aeronautics field.

The Brazil-Sweden Innovation Week is a biannual event organized by the Brazilian Embassy in Stockholm. This initiative began in 2017 in the context of the strategic partnership in innovation between Brazil and Sweden, as a platform to exchange ideas and experiences, show cooperation and explore new opportunities for joint work.
