Between October 30 and November 17, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is holding the Joint Exercise (EXCON) Shield-Tinia, at Canoas Air Base (BACO) and Santa Maria Air Base (BASM).
The aim of the activity is to train air units to carry out Air Force actions in a fictitious, dynamic and complex tactical scenario, with the aim of defending airspace sovereignty and attacking enemy territory, in a simulation of conventional warfare.
This year, EXCON Escudo-Tínia involves around 1,200 military personnel from the Air Force, Brazilian Navy and Brazilian Army. During the training, around 30 FAB aircraft will be used, including the F-5M, A-29 Super Tucano and A1-M fighters; the KC-390 Millennium and C-105 Amazonas; the H-60 Black Hawk helicopter and the E-99 and RQ-900 vectors.
The missions cover In-Flight Warning, Ground Assault, Attack, In-Flight Control and Alarm, Anti-Aircraft Defense, Cyber Defense, Escort, Air Force Police, Aerospace Communication Post, In-Flight Refueling, Aerospace Reconnaissance, Aerial Resupply, Facility Security, Suppression of Enemy Anti-Aircraft Defense, Logistical Airlift and Scanning.
