From September 15 to 17, another edition of the International Air Chiefs Conference took place in Washington, capital of the United States of America (USA). The Commander of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), Air Lieutenant Brigadier Carlos de Almeida Baptista Junior, attended the meeting, which was part of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force (USAF).

Commanders from 48 other Air Forces also attended the conference. Strengthening and forging new relationships among the Air Forces were among the objectives of the event, which took place over three days, with panels of debates.

Lieutenant Brigadier Baptista Junior commented about participating in the meeting. “Having the opportunity to meet with 48 Commanders was exceptional. We discussed, among several topics, the future of the Air Forces in the world, besides strengthening the personal and institutional relationships among their Commanders,” said the General Officer.

USAF: 75 years of creation

During his stay in the United States, the FAB Commander participated in the events that celebrated another anniversary of USAF creation. As a way of showing his affection, respect and admiration for the friendly Force, Lieutenant-Brigadier Baptista Junior presented the Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, General CQ Brown Jr., with a painting of the Gripen flying over Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

“For us, from the Brazilian Air Force, it was extremely important to be present in the United States, to celebrate another USAF year, which has its creation date very close to our FAB, besides the fact that our stories were written together during the events of the Second World War. Since then we have become great partners. Therefore, it is an honor to be here, as Commander, representing our Force and Brazil,” concludes the Commander.
