The Commander of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), Air Lieutenant Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, received the Brazilian Association of Fighter Pilots (ABRA-PC) and Veteran Fighter Pilots, in Brasília (DF). The group of military personnel attended a sequence of three presentations from the Aeronautics Staff (EMAER): the strategic innovation program; the introduction to Capacity Based Planning (PBC) in Brazil; and the development of the PBC and the Fighter Aviation Force Configuration Plan.

The Commander of the Aeronautics, Lieutenant Brigadier Damasceno, spoke about the Fighter Aviation and its commitment to the Brazilian air defense area. “We are proud to have an Aviation capable of using its dignified history to trace safe routes, aimed at overcoming challenges, and that has, in the recognition of the precious value of force, a legitimate instrument for social peace,” he commented.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Anápolis Air Base (BAAN), where it was received by the BAAN Commander, Aviator Colonel Renato Leal Leite, and taken to the headquarters of the First Air Defense Group (1º GDA) – Jaguar Squadron. The Squadron Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gustavo de Oliveira Pascotto, gave a briefing on the F-39 Gripen aircraft, and, after the talk, guided the members on a tour of the facilities inaugurated last year, including the mission planning system and the flight simulator.

During the visit, they also had the opportunity to see one of the F-39 Gripen fighter jets already in operation at the Squadron.

The Commander of the 1st GDA spoke about the importance of receiving the delegation. “It is an honor to be able to show directly to such a select group the level of commitment and dedication of our personnel, the high technical capacity of our equipment, and the effectiveness of our actions towards the operation of the F-39 Gripen. It is the most modern and technological aircraft in activity in the Brazilian Air Force, and its operation has raised Brazil to a new level in terms of air defense and the dissuasive capacity of our country”, he said.

The BAAN Commander also expressed his joy as host of the visit. “Receiving the Commander of the Air Force, the members of the High Command, and the members of ABRA-PC is a source of great pride for our Unit, especially for being able to present a prospective vision of our Air Base and attest that we continue tirelessly in the search for excellence, fulfilling our mission with dedication,” he concluded.

For the President of ABRAC-PC, Air Brigadier Teomar Fonseca Quirrico, the visit was very important to see what FAB projects for the future. “We are at this event today, where the EMAER presented the FAB of the future. The meeting brought us a lot of knowledge, we could see the planning and we feel very confident in a brighter future for our Force,” he commented.

ABRA-PC

ABRA-PC is a civilian association, nationwide, non-profit, cultural, recreational and social. Its purpose is to strengthen the bonds of union and solidarity among the Brazilian Air Force Fighter Pilots, especially those from the reserve and retired, and between these and others trained in other Armed Forces, national or foreign, seeking to stimulate and preserve the traditions and the spirit of the corps, as well as to promote interaction between the members and the Brazilian Air Force.
