Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC) achieves ISO 37001 Certification - Anti-Bribery Management SystemCompanhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC) achieves ISO 37001 Certification - Anti-Bribery Management System

Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC) has achieved ISO 37001 – Anti-Bribery Management System certification, which confirms its adherence to global standards to prevent the practice of bribery. This is a significant milestone in the history of CBC, which is now part of a select group of certified companies in Brazil and around the world.

The certificate was handed over this Friday (25.Aug.2023) in person by the CEO of the QMS Certification Body, Neifer França, to CBC’s CEO, Fabio Mazzaro, the board of directors and the project team, at the company’s headquarters in Ribeirão Pires (SP).

“We are proud to be the first Strategic Defense Company in Brazil to achieve this important certification, including the fight against arms and ammunition trafficking. This is another big step in the journey to improve our Compliance policies and procedures. This certification adds trust and credibility to our business, as well as attesting to our commitment to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency. We intend to continue raising our standards and leading by example, ensuring that every interaction with CBC is a testimony to our integrity,” says Fabio Mazzaro, CEO of Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos.

“It has been a significant journey for CBC, from the implementation of controls and the maturing of the Compliance program, culminating in ISO 37001 certification. This achievement demonstrates to the market, shareholders, clients and regulators that the company has a robust anti-bribery compliance structure, focused on managing the risks of its processes, adding value to all stakeholders,” says Neifer França, CEO of QMS.

Combating Arms and Ammunition Trafficking

Aware of the demands and expectations of the market and society, and supported by its strict controls, CBC has expanded the scope of its certification, going beyond anti-bribery controls to include the fight against arms and ammunition trafficking.

The company manages and controls the entire process of its products, such as physical security, carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, distributors and end customers. It also complies with national legislation and international treaties to combat arms and ammunition trafficking and acts strictly within the law.

One of its guidelines is not to establish business relations with individuals, companies, entities and/or countries that have caused or threaten to cause any violation of international security and that appear on the sanctions lists published by international organizations and entities.

CBC also does not establish or maintain relations with clients or intermediaries whose activities cast doubt on the legality or purpose of the operation, ensuring that its products are kept out of the reach of unauthorized users, does not carry out operations with countries whose civil momentum is in internal conflict and could generate suffering for the local population or for unauthorized purposes, even if they are not on the sanctions lists, and is alert to any indications that the resources may originate from illegal activities.

ISO 37001 certification is concrete evidence of CBC’s commitment and culture to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all aspects of its operations. It is validation of the company’s commitment to building and maintaining solid, transparent and reliable business relationships, both internally and with business partners. And it enshrines the work that has come as a result of an Integrity Program and a robust Compliance management system, reinforcing CBC’s commitment to the value of integrity.

“CBC’s 97-year history is no coincidence. We know the responsibilities inherent in the sector and the strength of our Integrity Program. This certification is important both for CBC and its business partners, and for society, especially at this time in the industry, demonstrating the company’s commitment not only to fighting corruption, but also arms and ammunition trafficking, both nationally and internationally. This achievement was only possible thanks to every member of our team who contributed to creating an upstanding and responsible business environment. The ISO 37001 certification not only validates our efforts, but inspires us to perpetuate CBC’s business and to continue improving ourselves, always keeping ethics as a goal,” says Marcelo Del Bianco, Compliance Officer and head of the project.
