Brasília (DF) – At the beginning of December, the Brazilian Joint Peace Operations Center (CCOPAB) concluded the Sectoral Internship for the Specific Preparation of Female Military Personnel for Peace Operations (EPESFOP). A practical training course that demanded the military women’s emotional control and resistance to fatigue in peace operations situations, the Internship confirmed the Center’s commitment to consolidating women’s participation in international peace and security missions.

The internship supplemented the knowledge of 16 women, including soldiers from the Brazilian Army and the Military Police of the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins. According to CCOPAB, EPESFOP was created with the aim of increasing female participation in peace missions, in line with a series of United Nations Security Council resolutions, in the context of the “Women, Peace and Security” Agenda and the “Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy”. The role of women in international peace and security was one of the priority themes presented by Brazil when it assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council in October 2023, highlighting the importance and timeliness of training.
