On Monday (April 15), the Air Force Academy (AFA), located in Pirassununga (SP), celebrated the first solo flight of a cadet from the 2nd Fleet of the Air Force Cadet Corps, Athos Class. On board the T-25 Universal aircraft, registration FAB 1914, of the 2nd Air Instruction Squadron (2nd EIA), Cadet Aviator Daniel Somensi, from the Áquila Fleet, carried out an intense theoretical and practical pre-landing routine and thus stood out as the first in his class to reach a significant milestone in the life of an Air Force Military Pilot.

Shortly after landing, he was welcomed by the Commander of the Air Force Cadet Corps (CCAER), Colonel Allan Domingues de Mendonça, flight instructors and classmates, as well as other military personnel. The moment was celebrated with the traditional handing over of the scarf, symbol of solo flight, as well as a shower by the fire truck and the ringing of the bell at the entrance to the 2nd EIA.

For Cadet Somensi, the feeling of flying solo for the first time is rewarding. “After months of preparation, I finally made my first solo flight. This moment would not have been possible without all the people who have helped me so far – instructors, classmates and, especially, my family, who accompanied me throughout the flight in my thoughts. This moment is the realization of years of dreams and dedication. I thank the Air Force Academy for this opportunity. Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible,” he said.

The instruction continues with the maneuvers and acrobatics phase, which aims to provide the Cadet with greater mastery of the aircraft.
