The Minister of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro, received, on Thursday (3), at the headquarters of the ministry, in Brasilia, the visit of the Ambassador of France, Brigitte Collet. During the meeting, the strengthening of cooperation between the countries was discussed, including the joint proposal to reactivate the Working Group with a view to bringing nations closer together in the area of defense. The Working Group was deactivated in 2019. France is a partner of Brazil in the field of defense and participates in the development of the Brazilian Navy’s Submarine Program (PROSUB), which provides for technology transfer between the countries.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Defense Products, Brigadier Rui Chagas Mesquita; the Director of the Trade Promotion Department, Rear Admiral Vagner Belarmino de Oliveira; the Deputy Chief of International Affairs, Air Brigadier André Luiz Alves Ferreira; and the Defense Attaché of the French Embassy in Brazil, Captain Matthieu Dejour.
