Today (16), 291 Naval Academy Aspirants and more than 2 thousand military personnel, distributed among five ships of the Brazilian Navy (MB), left Rio de Janeiro (RJ) for Aspirantex 2023, which will take place until February 1st in the area between the states of Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina.

The Operation aims to contribute to increase the training of the naval and naval aviation resources of the Fleet, and to familiarize the Aspirants with life at sea. During the Operation, they have the opportunity to put into practice the teachings learned in the classroom and to identify their aptitudes. This is also the moment when the second year Aspirants make their choice of Corps and Habilitation, which will define their careers.

During the period, military exercises will be executed among the participating ships and aircraft, reinforcing the Navy’s presence in the Blue Amazon, such as navigation exercises in low visibility and in a swept channel, transit under air threat, transit with submarine opposition, interception air control, “Leap Frog” in which the approach maneuver and the maintenance of the ships’ relative position is trained, “Light-line” in which the maintenance of the relative distance between two ships is practiced through the distance cable, amphibious demonstration, cyber warfare exercises, large scale shipwreck rescue, presence action in the Santos Basin (SP), among other actions. 

The Operation will be attended by the Navy Commander, Fleet Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, the Commander of Naval Operations, Fleet Admiral Wladmilson Borges de Aguiar, the Commander in Chief of the Fleet, Vice-Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa, and will be commanded by Rear-Admiral André Luiz de Andrade Felix, Commander of the 2nd Fleet Division, responsible for activities related to the Aspirantex.

Public Visitation

Public visits to the ships are planned for the period they are docked, in the following periods

  • January 21 and 22: Port of Itajaí (SC) and Port of Paranaguá (PR); and
  • January 28 and 29: Port of Santos (SP).

  • Aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force.
