Actions aim to inhibit the practice of illicit activities near Braço Forte Island (RJ)

A Operation “Lais de Guia”, the GLO of the Sea, today (22) intensified patrol actions in Guanabara Bay, including Braço Forte Island and adjacent regions, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

The purpose of the actions was to maintain patrols in the region, carry out naval inspections and inhibit the practice of illicit activities. On this occasion, the Ocean Patrol Vessel (NPaOc) “Amazonas”, the Patrol Notice (AviPa) “Anequim”, a DGS Tigre speedboat, a LAEP speedboat, a team of sniffer dogs and a drone for local mapping were used.

Now in its fourth month of operation and employing around 1,900 military personnel, the operation has stood out for its preventive activities and for strengthening actions to dismantle organized crime and drug and arms trafficking.

The operation also reinforces the importance of inter-agency collaboration in order to achieve the desired results and prevent illegal activities in the port regions defined by the Guarantee of Law and Order (GLO) Decree.

The public can collaborate with the military by passing on information that assists in new seizures, through the DISQUE DENÚNCIA channels: in the state of São Paulo at 181 and in Rio de Janeiro at 2253-1177. Reports are received 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
