Created to comply with the Brazilian Nuclear Program, Nuclebrás Equipamentos Pesados S.A. – NUCLEP, the only company in the country to hold certifications for strategic equipment in the sector – ASME U, U2, R, NA, NS and NPT – has completed the retesting of two 48Y Cylinders for Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil – INB, essential for the storage of uranium hexafluoride (UF6) in the process of manufacturing the fuel elements of the Angra 1 and 2 Nuclear Power Plants.

As the equipment is certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the retesting process needs to meet the same rigorous supervision and certification requirements of the Authorized Inspection Agency and the Independent Technical Supervision Body, making its execution even more complex.
Once again, the company ratifies its strategic importance to the development of Brazil’s nuclear sector.
