Operation “ADEREX” takes place until the 12th, between Rio de Janeiro and Santos

From today (08) until the 12th of May, about 2 thousand military personnel from seven ships, one submarine, six helicopters, two fighter planes and one aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force are participating in Operation “ADEREX”, which is taking place between the cities of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Santos (SP).

The purpose of the operation is to increase the level of training of the naval and naval aviation resources of the Fleet and to contribute to the operational and expeditionary capacity of the Force.
During the period, air operations will be carried out on board all the ships, shooting exercises with missiles, cannons and machine guns, torpedo launching, defense actions against aircraft, submarines and other ships, transfer of light cargo and positioning in formations, mainly at short range.

Participating in the operation are the Multipurpose Aircraft Ship “Atlântico”, the Frigates “Defensora”, “Constituição”, “Liberal”, “Independência”, “União” and “Rademaker”, the Corvette “Julio de Noronha”, the Submarine “Tikuna”, the Submarine Distress Ship “Guillobel”, and the Patrol Ship “Macaé”; the SH-16 Seahawk, AH-11B Wild Lynx, AH-15B Super Cougar and UH-12 Esquilo helicopters; the AF-1 Skyhawk fighters and the P-3AM Orion aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force. Operation ADEREX will be conducted by the 2nd Fleet Division Command.
