On Tuesday (29), the 18th edition of the Academic Congress on National Defense (CADN) opened at the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Pirassununga (SP). The CADN will run until August 31, and its purpose is to stimulate reflection and study on issues involving National Defense.

Held by the Higher Defense School (ESD) in partnership with the AFA, this year’s event brings together 270 students and teachers from the seven mini-courses and 39 papers selected by the Scientific Technical Committee for the 18th edition of CADN. This year’s congress brings new opportunities and incentives for the academic community.

After the official opening of the event by the Deputy Chief of Education and Culture of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces (EMCFA), Air Brigadier José Augusto Peçanha Camilo, the participants will attend two lectures: one entitled “The Second Cold War, the Climate Emergency and the Risks and Opportunities for Brazil”, given by Prof. Dr. Eduardo José Viola (UNFPA). Dr. Eduardo José Viola (UNB/FGV); and another on “Science as a Geopolitical Ferment”, presented by Prof. Dr. Paulo Eduardo Câmara Saraiva (UNB/ESD).

The first day of the event has a hybrid audience, with the public participating in person and streaming online on ESD’s YouTube page.
