On Monday (26/02), the Aeronautics Computer Center in São José dos Campos (CCA-SJ) delivered the second unit of the C-95M Bandeirante aircraft simulator to the Natal Air Base (BANT), located in Parnamirim (RN). The flight simulator is a key element for training normal and emergency procedures, and is essential for the training and operational maintenance of pilots. It saves time, money and lives, allowing the pilot in training to experience a wide variety of situations and be prepared to deal with a real emergency situation.

This delivery will contribute directly to the Operational Specialization Course for trainee pilots in Transport Aviation (CEO-TR) and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Aviation (CEO-IVR), taught by the First Fleet of the Fifth Aviation Group (1º/5º GAV) – Rumba Squadron, the cradle of multi-engine aircraft specialization in the Brazilian Air Force (CAA). This is why BANT was chosen to host this simulator.

According to the Head of CCA-SJ, Colonel Josemir Ribeiro Lima, flight simulators are like a laboratory for experimentation, where pilots can learn and improve their skills without risking personal injury or damage to property. “It’s also a way of significantly saving financial and material resources, so I’m sure that this delivery will contribute significantly to the trainees’ specialization, training our pilots with the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their missions with excellence and safety,” declared the Head of CCA-SJ during the ceremony to hand over the new equipment.

Also according to the Head of CCA-SJ, this second unit brings several improvements over the previous version, such as: the finish; more precise flight controls (using a more modern control louder); remodeled software updated with the latest technologies, new avionics features, emergency landing gear lowering, among several other new features.

“Certainly, this generation is being much better prepared for the missions than previous generations with the advent of these technologies, which are being used in the simulators,” said the Commander of the Natal Air Base, Colonel Ricardo Guerra Rezende.

The General Support Command (COMGAP), through the CCA-SJ, has increasingly contributed to flight simulation in the FAB. The Simulation Subdivision, in addition to managing the logistical support contracts for the simulators spread throughout the country, has been developing more and more quality simulators, using in-house resources and solutions and contributing to the greater independence of the Force.

To this end, with the modernization of the C-95 Bandeirante aircraft, the need arose to develop the simulator, with a total redesign of its panel and avionics, covering the new technologies and systems implemented, as well as reducing carbon emissions in the environment.
