The Ministry of Defense (MD) is studying the creation of a specific Defense civilian career to make up the portfolio’s job structure. With the aim of deepening discussions on the subject, the ministry held a lecture given by Francisco Gaetani, professor and Extraordinary Secretary for State Transformation at the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services. The activity took place on Monday (11), at the Higher Defense School (ESD), in Brasília (DF).

Opening the meeting, the Secretary General of the MD, Luiz Henrique Pochyly da Costa, highlighted the importance and main objective of the lecture. “Today, it is necessary to create a public career that has the capacity to benefit the agency over the years in the exercise of its competencies. Thus, the objective of providing civil servants in this new framework is to provide the MD with a permanent and qualified workforce, which will act in the formulation of programs and projects inherent to the area of National Defense,” he said.

Professor Francisco Gaetani has a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Department of Government and in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is currently a professor at the Rio Branco Institute and the National School of Public Administration.

Also present were Emcfa’s Chief of Education and Culture, Army General Francisco Carlos Machado Silva, the Deputy Secretary General of the MD, Cinara Wagner Fredo, the Secretary of Personnel, Health, Sports and Social Projects (Sepesd), Air Brigadier Lieutenant Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, professors and other civilian and military authorities.
