Brazil and Czech Republic strengthen defense industry partnership in historic meetingBrazil and Czech Republic strengthen defense industry partnership in historic meeting

On March 4, Brazil’s Ministry of Defense hosted a preparatory meeting for the Defense Industry Dialogue (DID) between Brazil and the Czech Republic. The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen commercial ties and cooperation in the defense sector between the two countries.

During the meeting, defense associations and companies from each country had the opportunity to present their portfolios and potential, seeking to promote commercial and technological exchange between the sectors. The event was designed to bring together institutions and companies interested in future commercial agreements in the area of defense.

The meeting took place in a hybrid format and was attended by representatives of the Secretariat for Defense Products (Seprod), the Department of Trade Promotion (Depcom), the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brazil, the Embassy of Brazil in the Czech Republic and the Military Attaché of Brazil in the Czech Republic. Also in attendance were the Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Materials Industries (Abimde), the National Union of Defense Industries and Materials (Simde) and the Czech Aerospace Industry Association, as well as companies from both countries.

For the Secretary for Defense Products, Rui Chagas Mesquita, the event represents a unique opportunity for the defense industry of both countries. “Our job is to collaborate so that the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base has the capacity to meet the product, service and systems needs of our Armed Forces with excellence,” he said.

In addition to the benefits for the defense industry, holding the event can also bring significant benefits for society, such as an increase in business sustainability, with the generation of new jobs and income.

The preparatory meeting for the Brazil-Czech Republic DID represents an important step in the rapprochement between the two countries’ defense sectors. With the exchange of experiences and the identification of business opportunities, the expectation is that bilateral cooperation in the defense sector will be strengthened, bringing benefits both to the companies involved and to society as a whole.
