The Ambassador of Brazil in the United Arab Emirates, Eliana Zugaib, and the COO of ApexBrasil in Dubai, Tatiana Riera, inaugurated the Brazil Pavilion at IDEX 2023

The Ambassador of Brazil in the United Arab Emirates, Eliana Zugaib, together with the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of ApexBrasil in that country, Tatiana Riera, unveiled the inaugural banner of the Brazil Pavilion at IDEX 2023. The event, which brings together the world’s leading Defense and Security companies, started on Monday (20) and will continue until Friday (24), in Abu Dhabi.

The Brazil Pavilion is coordinated by ABIMDE (Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Materials Industries), in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). The space, installed at booth 09-A18, houses the companies Akaer, Atech, Avionics Services, CSD, Gespi, Imbel, Kryptus, M&K Logistics, Mac Jee, Ocellott and Siatt. Four other Brazilian companies -CBC, Condor, Embraer and Taurus- are participating in the fair with their own stands.

At the opening ceremony, which was attended by a delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian exhibiting companies, Ambassador Eliana Zugaib highlighted the importance of Brazil’s participation in IDEX, as a factor for promoting the Defense and Security Industrial Base in that region.

The Middle East is considered one of the main markets for Brazilian exports of Defense and Security services and products.
“Effectively, this is the largest trade fair in the region and it is a showcase for the international defense market, so the presence of Brazil here is very important in the sense that this is a platform where one can expand knowledge about the defense sector here in the region and also offers many business opportunities (…). It is a space where you can show a modern Brazil, technologically advanced, that dominates cutting-edge technology and can present innovative solutions in this area of Defense,” said the Ambassador.

According to data released by the fair’s organization, despite the pandemic recovery stage and sanitary restrictions, the 2021 edition of IDEX recorded the highest amount of business obtained in the exhibition’s history, moving around 21 billion UAE Dirham (approximately US$ 5.7 billion dollars).
Last year 62,445 visitors were recorded during five days of the event, with 900 exhibitors, 59 countries and 35 international pavilions.

“This year twice as many visitors are expected at the fair, which is an indication that there will eventually be more business opportunities. For Brazil, mainly, because it is a space where a modern, technologically advanced Brazil can be shown, which dominates cutting-edge technology and can present innovative solutions in this area of Defense. On the other hand, there are opportunities not only for buying and selling, but also for establishing joint ventures for the development of products in the Defense area,” concluded Eliana Zugaib.

The Ambassador gave this interview to the Director of Projects of ABIMDE, Colonel Antonio Ribeiro, after the inauguration ceremony of the Brazil Pavilion (watch the video with the full statement of the Ambassador: https://youtu.be/KaxljqulbMo).
