Free of charge, the twentieth edition of the event will be broadcast live online

Latin America’s largest forum on international security, the XX Forte International Security Conference will take place on June 1st and 2nd and, for the first time, at the Museu do Amanhã (Museum of Tomorrow), in downtown Rio. With the theme “The Changing Global Order: Facing the Perfect Storm” and the presence of specialists from Europe and Latin America, the event is an initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS-Brazil), in partnership with the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and support from the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil.

Among the names already confirmed are the Secretary-General of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha, the first woman to head the portfolio; the former Finance Minister and former Brazilian Ambassador to the United States, Rubens Ricupero; and the European Union Ambassador to Brazil, Ignacio Ybáñez. Politicians, authorities, academics and representatives of civil society and the Armed Forces from Europe and Latin America will be debating in two mornings contemporary issues of international relevance.

“The Changing Global Order: Facing the Perfect Storm” seeks to discuss the changing global order, such as the rise of political extremism, the global economy in times of war, the long road to world peace, and the challenges and prospects in the area of artificial intelligence. As in the past 20 years, the Forte Conference aims to promote dialogue between Latin America and Europe, encouraging joint reflection on global challenges.

To participate, you just need to register, free of charge, through the link https://forte.avscvirtual.com.br. The conference will be broadcast online for free in real time for those who cannot participate in person in Rio de Janeiro, and will also have simultaneous translation in Portuguese, Spanish, English, German and LIBRAS.

About the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS):

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) is an independent, non-profit German political foundation that acts nationally and internationally for peace, justice and freedom. Our primary mission is the defense of democracy and the promotion of a social market economy based on the values of Christian democracy. In addition, we seek to strengthen transatlantic relations through international cooperation, and to this end we have more than 107 representations around the world. We orient our work around key themes such as Innovation, Representation and Participation, and Security.

We have been active in Brazil since 1969 and focus our activities on four thematic axes: Political Education, promoting citizens’ participation in politics; Rule of Law and Public Policies, which trains multipliers on themes such as Human Rights and Democracy; Sustainable Development and Decentralization, where we promote meetings with local leaders and political representatives to promote good governance and sustainability; and Global Challenges, where we stimulate relations not only between Europe and Latin America, but also between Brazil and Germany, under the prism of cooperation and international relations.

About the Brazilian Center for International Relations:

Founded 25 years ago by Ambassador Luiz Felipe Lampreia, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) is the main center for thinking about and promoting the country’s international agenda. The institution prioritizes interdisciplinarity, plurality and independence. CEBRI’s Board of Trustees and other Councils are formed by renowned diplomats, intellectuals and businessmen.

About 70 companies and institutions from various segments are associated with the CEBRI. The 14 work groups generate high-level debates, quality content, and subsidies for the formulation of public policies on themes that impact the country’s international agenda. Led by specialists and renowned authorities, the clusters aim to contribute to the construction of a development agenda, the formulation of public policies and international insertion for Brazil.
