Campinas (SP) – From November 1st to November 18th of this year, the 28th Mechanized Infantry Battalion (28th BI Mec), through the Urban Operations Training Center (CIOU), conducted the tactical and technical training of combat in urban areas for operational sub-units of the Task Forces (FT) of the Army’s 25th, 26th and 27th Parachute Infantry Battalions, FORPRON.

During three weeks, in four intense work days, the paratroopers carried out the following training: combat in confined spaces; combat in underground areas; progression techniques in urban areas; ostensive patrol on foot, mechanized, and motorized; combat shooting; and offensive and defensive operations in urban environments. At the end of the days, the Dagger Exercise was carried out, of investment in the simulated locality, platoon and company value – offensive operations.

The purpose of the activity was to contribute to the training of the paratroopers and to convey the most up-to-date doctrinal techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP) of urban combat.

The Urban Operations Training Center was created in 2006, with the purpose of helping in the development and improvement of ground military doctrine, in the employment of small fractions, in operations to ensure law and order, and in regular combat in urban areas.

The CIOU helped in the preparation and training of Army troops that were employed in the Pacification and Federal Intervention Operations that took place in Rio de Janeiro, as well as in the preparation of the troops that performed the security of the Pope’s visit, the World Cup in 2014, and the Olympics in 2016.
